The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Graduate Medical Education

The Defense Health Agency Graduate Medical Education Program is the premiere platform for producing Medical Corps officers who are:
  • Expert clinicians,
  • Trained to the scope of practice required in the operational force, and
  • Adjusted to the military Medical Corps culture and environment
The DHA GME platform trains more than 3,000 U.S. military officers annually in 25 teaching hospitals, hosting our 216 training programs. Two hundred programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. While the remaining programs are not formally recognized by the ACGME, they are recognized by their associated specialty boards as qualified training programs.
