How do I get a referral?
In non-emergency situations, contacting your primary care manager is the first step to obtaining specialty care. Should your PCM determine that you need specialty care, you will be referred to a specialist within the 81st Medical Group or in the Humana Military Healthcare Services Network. Please proceed to the Referral Management Center located on the basement floor, Room GF400, across from escalator, next to the outpatient Clinic entrance.  If you need to contact the Referral Management Center you can do so at 228-376-0490. You can also contact Humana about the status of a network referral at 800-444-5445.
What if a specialist wants to perform additional services?
Your specialist must contact Humana Military (not your primary care manager) for authorization prior to performing any additional procedures / services / admission not authorized on your referral. If they want to send you to another specialist, it may require a separate referral from your PCM or other 81st Medical Group referring provider, please call 800-700-8603 and submit a telephone consult or make an appointment.
How do I get my results?
Results are returned to the 81st Medical Group / your primary care manager or other 81 MDG referring provider based on the type of services received. If you need to discuss results with your PCM or other 81 MDG referring provider, please call 800-700-8603 and submit a telephone consult or make an appointment.
What if I have other health insurance or Medicare?
If you have other health insurance, including Medicare, TRICARE will always be secondary payer to that insurance. You will not receive authorizations from Humana Military. The Referral Management Center will assist you by providing a copy of your referral and upon request a list of TRICARE or Medicare providers in the local area either when you visit the RMC, or by mail. Please call 228-376-0490 with your appointment information so we can request your results for your primary care manager or other 81st Medical Group referring provider.
What if I get a prescription?
There are three Pharmacy options:
81st Medical Group Pharmacy-satellite Pharmacy at the BX (no cost).
TRICARE Pharmacy home delivery (up to a 90-day supply). Co-pay: $10 for generic, $29 for name brand, $60 for non-formulary.
