Sixteen Military Hospitals Receive Leapfrog's Highest Safety Grade

Defense Health Agency Headquarters, Falls Church Va. — The Defense Health Agency has announced that 16 military hospitals received an "A" rating in the latest Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for Spring 2025. These high grades reflect the DHA's ongoing dedication to transparency and providing high-quality care to service members and their families.

The team shared their medical journey, assignments, deployments, their path to college, and pointers on applying for financial aid.

New Device Implemented in the Family Birthing Center

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. — The staff of Keesler Medical Center’s Family Birthing Center is employing an innovative tool for birthing people experiencing postpartum hemorrhage. The Jada® system, a new tool in their arsenal, will be used to provide control and treatment of abnormal postpartum uterine bleeding.

Simulate, emulate: 81st MDG SIM Lab

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. — The patient’s eyes blink and their chest softly lifts up and down. A doctor moves to their side to ask how they are feeling, and a computer prompts the patient to respond with a sudden erratic heartbeat. With an average of 3,500 student hours a month, the 81st Medical Group simulation lab is an essential tool used to train life-saving skills to medical personnel.

Keesler Medical Center Laboratory ranked as top 10

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. — The Keesler Medical Center Laboratory passed the College of American Pathology (CAP) Inspection on Jan. 31 with an EXCELLENT grade of 99.9%, putting them in the top 10% of all accredited laboratories in the world. CAP equips accredited laboratories with the knowledge, skills and resources to remain up to date and relevant in an evolving healthcare landscape, while ensuring compliance with federal and state laboratory regulations.

The heart of patient care

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. — A Keesler doctor is elevating the 81st Medical Group’s health care mission and paving a trail for others along the way. Lt. Col. Ronald Jones, 81st MDG chief of electrophysiology, is currently the only electrophysiologist serving in the Air Force. He is also one of the only doctors of his specialty serving the Gulf Coast community.

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE --  Two patients, each with metastatic lung cancer, were rushed to Keesler’s Operating Room, struggling to breathe with tumors constricting their airways.
